Adjudication is a private trial predominantly in the construction industry in which an adjudicator hears and settles a case. Special features of adjudication are that the timeframe within which a decision is rendered is determined by statute in the case of the United Kingdom this is a period of 28 days and the decision awarded is binding subject to arbitral proceedings or litigation being undertaken by either of the parties. In many ways it is similar to arbitration.
